Godeanu belongs to the Western part of the Transylvanian Alps. The maximum altitude is 2.284, at Gugu; there 5 more peaks higher than 2.000m. These mountains have a long tradition as shepherds area, a reason why the mountains are inhabited up to a very high altitude. There are no chalets and no touristic facilities in Godeanu, so the area fits the professional trekker.
