Sovata is located in Transylvania, close to the city of Targu Mures.
The first reference about Sovata comes from 1578. Due to its warm and salty lakes, it became increasingly popular during the following centuries. The water has proved very efficient for gynecological problems, that is why it was called "the women's spa". Sovata is also a well known mountain resort, especially for winter sports. It is a favorite for tourists from Hungary, as the spa and surroundings are mainly Hungarian-speaking areas.
