If we cummulate the wine produced by Romania and its small neighbor, Moldova Republic, the total ammount place the region in TOP 10 most important wine producers in the world, just below Chile, South Africa and Australia. The Moldavian region itself is the most important wine producer in all the Eastern Europe.
Moldavia used to be one region but today it is split between the Moldavia region of Romania and the Bessarabia region (Eastern Moldavia), that makes up the Moldova Republic. Its (mainly red) wines are world-wide famous.
