The town is located in Wallachia, less than 30 km from the city Ploiesti.
Urlati is located in the Wallachian wine region of Dealu Mare. The region is known for its excellent red wines. The town was attested in 1515 and became the residence of one of the major leaders of 17th century Wallachia, Constantin Brancoveanu, who had his wineyards here. There is an old manor house where you can taste the wines of Wallachia.
